A somewhat sombre look at Peter Pan, one of our favorite characters in "fiction." It is about the brave face that Peter puts on for Wendy, though deep down he's still a child who is insecure, particularly about his shadow.So often, we put on a brave face, while inside we're all still just fragile children.
lyrics
And so I ran away 'cause I heard them making plans for me,
And I had made some of my own; I'll not grow old if I can make it.
You know I'm famous for shortening his arm to feed the beast.
And ever since its great arrest, he'll never rest with that ticking.
Don't your shoulders itch no more?
And it was I alone who held my own against the pride;
And I drew blade and drew a line, and I dared the lions to cross and die.
Don't your shoulders itch no more?
There'll be no peace until it's through, no, I can do this on my own.
And in the end it has to be either Hook or me this time, you know.
Don't your shoulders itch no more?
[Darling] shadows will not stick.
Please beware my cleverness, it sometimes gets the best of me.
And it is all a crying shame to find we've aged more than it seems.
Don't your shoulders itch no more?
